Hello, Neighbors.
My name is Suzi Rumohr, and I’m running to represent District 3 on Denton City Council. I’m running because Denton needs people on our city council who understand the principles of city and transportation planning, are excited to dig into the numbers, and know where the levers are to make meaningful improvements.
The people of Denton face many challenges. These include dangerous roads and rising costs for housing and transportation. We also struggle with policies that dull Denton’s vibrancy by making it difficult for locals to start a business or engage in creative projects that make Denton unique.
I am ready to lead on issues including traffic safety, giving Denton residents more choice and flexibility for housing and transportation options, and improving the efficiency of Denton’s policies, procedures, spending, and growth patterns to keep our tax burden lower.
As a librarian, I understand the value of information when making decisions. For years I have learned about the systems and policies that shape what Denton looks like and how it operates. I have worked to share this knowledge with our council members and now I’m ready to hit the ground running as a member of Denton City Council.
My service to Denton includes the Mobility Committee, Vision Zero Task Force, and Special Citizen Bond Advisory Committee in 2019 and 2023 (Chair Pro Tem). I’ve also served on the Parks, Recreation, and Trails Master Plan Focus Group, Northeast Denton Small Area Plan Steering Committee, and the Southwest Park Master Plan Advisory Committee.
Denton is a unique place that I’ve called home since 2005. I’m excited to use my knowledge to partner with you to keep Denton moving forward by addressing what holds us back. I hope you’ll join me in looking to the future and working to shape a Denton we’re all proud to call home.
